Travis County District Clerk Amalia Rodriguez-Mendoza has announced that she will retire at the end of this term. A friend and colleague, Velva Price, has expressed interest in running for this position. We fervently hope that you will join us in supporting Velva Price for District Clerk.

Velva’s record of professional, community, and political activities and involvement is both impressive and vast. She has been a skilled, respected lawyer, a member of the State Bar Board, a member of city and state commissions and boards, and a leader of many Democratic and community organizations. In the past, Velva has been President of the Austin Bar Association; Board Member, State Bar of Texas; Member, Texas Supreme Court Grievance Oversight Commission; Officer, Central Austin Democrats.

In short, Velva has been an extraordinary, tireless professional and community leader for many years—always in the role of helping others.

As a lawyer and a public servant on boards and commissions, Velva has developed a breadth and depth of management, administrative, and policy expertise that will make her a superb District Clerk.

On a personal level, anyone who knows Velva recognizes her unfailing good humor, warmth, deep compassion, and loyal friendship. She is both an accomplished professional and a delightful person.
